Trinity Waters, AgriLife Extension offer additional water, land management workshops

Trinity Waters and AgriLife Extension are continuing their workshops series focused on water and land management for agricultural producers and wildlife managers.  The goal of these workshops is to gain better understanding of how land management improves water holding capacity of the land and how to capture more rainfall, which will improve plant production and profitability for landowners.  In addition, the effects that management have on the water resources of the Trinity River basin will be discussed as well.

Topics addressed at the workshops include:

  • Land use trends and impacts on water resources
  • Regulation update for pesticide applicator's license holders
  • Features of the TRIMS mapping tool
  • Developing a Water Quality Management Plan
Dates and location for the workshops are:
Feb. 5 from 1-5 p.m., Texas Freshwater Fisheries Conservation Center, 5301 County Road 4812, Athens.
Feb. 8 from 1-5 p.m., Walker County Storm Shelter, 455 State Highway 75 North, Huntsville

These workshops are free and open to the public and will provide 2.5 hours of Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units — 1 laws and regulations, 1 general and 0.5 integrated pest management — for attendees.
