Recently, the Texas Chapter of the Wildlife Society announced the winner of the 2010 Outstanding Technical Publication Award as "Techniques for Wetland Construction and Management". This publication is part of a Trinity River Initiative publication series that provides information for land management that benefits wildlife and fisheries resources.
Dr. Shawn Locke teamed up with co-authors Carl Frentress, Dr. Jim Cathey, Corey Mason, Rick Hirsch, and Dr. Matt Wagner to develop this publication, which can be found at Texas AgriLife Extension Bookstore. As noted in an another Wild Wonderings Blog post, this publications provides how to information on the creation or restoration of wetland habitat.
Restoration of the Trinity River Basin continues to be championed by landowners making up the Trinity Basin Conservation Foundation and this organization was a driving factor in the development of this publication. Funding for this publication was made possible by a grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Wildlife Diversity Program.
