Winter Wild Pig Management: Monitoring Acorns - Video Blog

By: Mark Tyson, M.S.

Late fall and early in winter is a great time to focus your efforts on monitoring the availability and abundance of acorns on your property. As those acorns become less abundant on the landscape those wild pigs will range out further searching for them. Once their completely gone that is a great time to start pre-baiting and conditioning to your site where you are going to either trap or shoot them. If you have a sounder of pigs it is best to go ahead and trap them, because the goal is 100% capture on the entire sounder. However if you just have one pig like a lone boar that would be a great opportunity to harvest that boar with a firearm. Just think about the response your observing and think about the appropriate technique to get the most appropriate results.
