Meeting the Water Needs of Texans and Wildlife is Sept. 12 Webinar topic

Northern Shovelers taking flight from a wetland

Dr. Jim Cathey of AgriLife Extension will be presenting "Meeting the Water Needs for Texans and Wildlife" on September 12 from noon - 1 pm.  This is the final webinar in the summer series co-hosted by Trinity Waters.  In this webinar. Dr. Cathey will discuss how land management practices that benefit wildlife can also benefit livestock and the water that goes into the ground and off the land.  This is important in the Trinity River basin where 45% of the Texas population gets its water from the Trinity River, and where habitat loss and poor water quality continue to challenge this region.

Dr. Cathey will provide practical tips for landowners to apply to their land to benefit their own land productivity and profitability, as well as providing plentiful clean water to their fellow Texans.  Topics range from prairie restoration for quail and wild turkey to wetland management to benefit waterfowl and provide additional water for two North Texas water districts.
