Cold weather is predicted for much of Texas this weekend, which has many deer hunters thinking about being in the field. They are probably deciding something like...should I leave right now, or chance driving in icy weather on Friday. If my phone goes unanswered tomorrow, you know what I decided to do! Keep in mind that it is part of my job as a wildlife biologist to be in the field as much as possible. I keep telling my wife that this activity is work-related, but of course she knows me much too well and easily sees through the ruse.
As I mentioned before, being in the field is a great way for students of wildlife to observe nature and build knowledge. Another way is to seek information from the experts. You have a chance to do that very thing at the upcoming Quality Deer Management Association's Deer Steward Level 1 Certification. See the information below in the great educational opportunity.
