October 17, 2008 Membership Social Trinity Basin Conservation Foundation

Dear Trinity Basin Conservation Foundation Supporter,

Please mark your calendar for the first annual Trinity Basin Conservation Foundation (TBCF) membership gathering and BBQ dinner, to be held October 17, 2008 at the Parten Family’s 7J Stock Farm.

Informal social activities will begin and refreshments served at 5:00 PM with a BBQ dinner at 6:30, accompanied by brief updates on progress of the organization, opportunities for involvement and support, and a keynote address by landowner, J.K. “Rooter” Brite. Brite, a multi-generational rancher at the headwaters of the Trinity, will tell his story, illustrating how a common-sense, practical, open-minded approach to land stewardship can be good business in the Trinity River Basin; and how working outside his fence lines has improved his overall operation.

As you have seen, the TBCF has matured significantly over the years since members of the Middle Trinity Wildlife Cooperative expanded their mission and you began receiving the newsletter from of the desk of Jim Reed. Our Board of Directors, Committee Chairs, and volunteers have been hard at work developing capacity and a foundation for growth. Many thanks for your patience and support through this process – look for a summary of accomplishments on the second page of this letter.

With our many accomplishments, has come more demand for the products we generate, and therefore more expenses. Through much deliberation and thoughtful consideration, the TBCF Board has approved a membership fee that will be rolled out at the gathering in October. Please take this opportunity to send your membership contribution in now, to be listed as a Founding Member of TBCF. We are asking for an annual contribution in the amount of $20 to secure your spot on the ground floor of this growing organization. Please note that individuals who have made financial contributions to date in 2008 have already been added to our Founding members list through 2009.

We also need your help in announcing the annual meeting and seeking new supporters that believe as we do; that stewardship and conservation of our natural resources will benefit the quality of life for our children and grandchildren indefinitely into the future. Although the natural landscape of most of the Trinity Basin is relatively healthy, there are some 6 million residents in the area and we will need many allies to conserve and improve this landscape! Please pass this announcement on to anyone and everyone you believe might be interested and give them a copy of the registration form.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to networking with you in October. Please return the attached form with your membership contribution and your RSVP or e-mail (jsanders@twa-mail.org).
